We've got answers for all your burning questions.
Because you need one less thing to worry about. You'd choose Uffizzi to host your app for the same reason you'd use TurboTax to do your taxes. You could study tax law and do it yourself or trust a pricey accountant to do it for you. But many people turn to a simple, automated and trusted platform that handles everything for them at a reasonable price. Uffizzi is like TurboTax for the cloud.
Uffizzi is a cloud platform that makes it Easy-like-Uffizzi to deploy and manage your applications and databases in the cloud. Traditional clouds like AWS, Azure and GCP are great if you need a highly customized cloud, but their hundreds of options require time and expertise. Designed to be simple enough for a junior developer but purpose-built for professional applications, Uffizzi automates the complicated setup process typical of other cloud platforms to give you reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure — every time. No manual configuration required. No setup errors. No costly hours spent reading documentation and then re-reading it months later when something goes wrong.
Uffizzi is easier to use while being about 30% cheaper than Heroku on average. Uffizzi is also more modern — leveraging sophisticated tools like Kubernetes — which improve efficiency and allow us to keep our costs lower. This let's us pass those savings on to you.
You need a containerized application on Docker Hub (GitHub integration is coming Fall 2020). That's it. If you're not familiar with Docker, it's by far the most popular container platform and has become the de facto standard for packaging applications to run in the cloud. We recommend developers who are new to the world of Cloud Operations to invest some time in learning Docker. It's a fairly short learning curve that will make the rest of your life much easier when it comes to operations, even if you choose another cloud provider.
With Uffizzi's simple, guided-setup process you can deploy web apps or APIs to separate cloud environments to test development, staging or production branches in a matter of minutes. You can store your application's data in one of our enterprise-grade database options, and let Uffizzi handle backups, scaling and security. You can even select Uffizzi's high availability option to replicate your applications across separate data centers to reduce the chance of downtime for your users. You won't see these kinds of enterprise features on platforms like Heroku.
From Uffizzi's intuitive web console, import your app from Docker Hub (Github integration coming Fall 2020), and provide port number and environment variables as required by your app. Uffizzi will then provision, deploy, connect and secure your application in a professional cloud environment. Uffizzi also offers fully managed versions of the most popular relational databases — MySQL and Postgres — which include automated backups and failover redundancy options. For business-critical apps and data, Uffizzi recommends our Enterprise option that automatically replicates your app across separate data centers to ensure it's highly available for your users. You won't see these kinds of enterprise features on platforms like Heroku.
Currently, Uffizzi offers fully managed MySQL and Postgres databases with high availability, auto-scaling storage and automated backups (See Database Service offerings). Windows SQL Server and Object Storage are coming Fall 2020.
We take security very seriously and go to paranoid lengths to keep your applications and data safe. Uffizzi works hard to ensure that the infrastructure supporting your applications and data are as secure as possible. To that end, we utilize the same best practices and industry standards as other major cloud providers, including ISO/IEC, SOC, and HIPAA compliant infrastructure. Applications run inside Kubernetes clusters with network, namespace and kernel-level isolation, and database access is restricted to applications within your private, virtual cloud environment. In addition to these security mechanisms at the infrastructure layer, we strongly suggest that you perform code reviews and security audits of your codebase to prevent data breaches at the application layer.
Every user environment is completely isolated at the process and networking layers. When you set up a cloud environment, all of your containers within that environment can talk on localhost to each other, and only the containers you designate will be publicly accessible. Publicly accessible containers are protected by a highly redundant set of load balancers. You can connect your Uffizzi database or any other external backing service via environment variables.
Uffizzi leverages Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google's global network of world-class data centers. Uffizzi automates complex cloud configurations to deliver reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure with the push of a button. Built atop Kubernetes, Uffizzi let's you leverage the power of the popular orchestrator without ever touching it. Frontend, backend, microservices, multi-container apps, databases, SSL certificates, load-balancing, networking . . . Uffizzi handles it all.
Commitment is hard. We get it. By design we don't lock you into our platform. First, there's no long term contract — just pay for what you use. Second, containerized applications are portable by design. A container that runs on Uffizzi can also run on any other container based infrastructure. We'd hate to see you go, but you're free to leave anytime.
Yes! We offer $60 in Uffizzi Cloud Credits to all new users. This is enough to run a Performance Tier Application and a Standard Database for a full 30 days to test out the product. You can use the credits for 30 days or until they run out — whichever comes first.
No, you don't need a credit card to get started. You have 30 days to use $60 in free credits. After you use all your credits or after 30 days, you'll need to add a credit card to prevent serivce interruption.
Nope. There are no hidden fees, and there's no charge for network usage. Yep, you read that right. Uffizzi has a simple and transparent billing system designed to avoid confusion. That means you get a lot of stuff for free that other cloud providers charge you for. However, please note that there is a 1TB soft limit on monthly network bandwidth as outlined in the Uffizzi Acceptable Use Policy. This limit is sufficient for most users, but if you anticipate using more, please contact us via our Slack channel or by email at email@example.com.
